Join us for an important discussion about professionals caring for aging parents, presented by CarePatrol of North Indianapolis! Discussion topics include methods on decreasing the stress and complexities of caregiving for adult children, how to maximize the quality of life for an aging parent, knowing when, where, and how to access important resources, and learning caretaking strategies that actually work. Join us for our October Caffeinated Conversation where we will hear from Nancy Chance, the Founder and Executive Director of the Good Samaritan Network of Hamilton County. Nancy will be highlighting the Good Samaritan Network, what they do, the impact it has on Hamilton County, and why it is important to get involved in your community.
Meet Our Speaker
Nancy S. Chance is the founder and Executive Director of the Good Samaritan Network of Hamilton County, Fishers, Indiana. Nancy has felt a driving passion and calling to care for people all of her life, focusing on prevention as well as remediation of life-related problems (emergency and crisis intervention)and maintaining a commitment to improving the overall quality of life for Hamilton County residents. She actually began the components for what would become the Good Samaritan Network (GSN) out of her home in 1980. GSN has expanded and grown significantly since that time including federal determination (501c3)status andECFA recognition.After50yearsin a medical laboratory career she now prioritizes her time coordinating the Good SamaritanNetworkin a seamless effort to serveHamiltonCountyresidentswithvarioussocial and human service agencies, food pantries, churches, schools, and township trustees.TheNetwork’s Direct and InDirect services actively assist 26,978 families in Hamilton County annually! She is a sought-after speaker and consultant for many social and governmental agencies that assist in caring for the underserved. Through Nancy’s leadership and vision Good Samaritan Network has expanded its capabilities and reach to serve the community with various human services, including acting as the fiscal agent for: Hamilton County CancerSociety, B.A.B.E. Store and Partnership For A Healthy Hamilton County (PHHC)–which represents the major area hospitals. Beyondexecuting the affairs of the Good Samaritan Network, Nancy volunteers personally, assisting clients and various agencies. Unknowingly, you witness her involvement throughout Hamilton County through her vision, leadership, and participation, including: Hamilton County Emergency Management, Habitat for Humanity, Noblesville MainStreet, and a myriad of nonprofit organizations and agencies. Nancy’s community service and volunteer awards are numerous, including: Traditional HomeMagazine “women of the Year"- the most creative and collaborative program (Good Samaritan Network of Hamilton County, Inc.) in the country; Indiana Golden Hoosier Award (Lt Governor's Office and Family Social Services); SPEA Award, State of Indiana Council of the Sagamore of the Wabash-the highest distinction in Indiana by the state governor; Service to Mankind Award (Sertoma International); The Rose Sussman Award (Exemplary Volunteer Service to the American Red Cross); Strathmore's WHO'S WHO, Indianapolis Star Newspaper Jefferson Award Volunteer of the Year Award; and the Clara Barton Award-American Red Cross, and many more.
