Shamika Mazyck, an Indianapolis-based attorney in the Quarles & Brady Health & Life Sciences Practice Group, was among the honorees for The Indiana Lawyer 2024 “Diversity in Law” award. The award recognizes “attorneys and judges from across the state and across practice types who have contributed to efforts to diversify the Hoosier legal profession.”
In addition to her health law practice, Mazyck is a passionate advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) within Quarles, the legal profession and her community. She serves as a mentor in the firm’s mentoring program for diverse associates and is active in the firm’s recruiting and hiring processes, helping ensure a more diverse pool of candidates. Mazyck is active in the community and is a key contributor to the Black Directors Health Equity Agenda.
“Whether through a formal structure or informal, organic relationships, her example of inclusion and emphasis on respect for each other is a foundational part of her character that not only makes each person who interacts with her better, but also strengthens our firm,” said Lucy Dollens, an Indianapolis partner and member of the Quarles Executive Committee, in her nomination of Mazyck for the award.
