The Carmel Clay Public Library is a 117-year-old institution serving the residents of Carmel and Clay Township. Our mission is to inspire lifelong discovery, facilitate collaboration, and connect people with resources. We are currently undergoing a major renovation and expansion of our main building located across the street from Carmel High School. In the meantime, we continue to provide services at a temporary location in Merchants Square at E. 116th Street and Keystone Avenue, at our branch in the Village of West Clay, and at our Digital Media Lab in the Carmel Arts & Design District.
We are seeking a successor for our current Finance Manager who will be retiring at the end of 2021.
Reporting to the Library Director, the Finance Manager serves as the chief financial officer for the Library and is a member of the leadership team. Utilizing sound accounting practices and adhering to local, state and federal requirements, he/she is responsible for all financial management aspects of Library operations including strategic planning; financial record keeping, analysis and reporting; managing budgets and cash flow; making investments; and advising the Library Director and Board on financial matters. Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or a closely related field
At least five years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience, preferably in a public sector or not-for-profit organization, including at least two years of senior management and supervisory experience
Extensive knowledge of fund accounting, generally accepted accounting principles, and applicable laws and regulations pertaining to financial standards
Knowledge and understanding of State Board of Accounts procedures, Governmental Accounting Standards Board procedures, and Public Library bookkeeping
Experience leading an annual budget process and developing financial projections
Ability to prepare, analyze and present complex financial information
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel pivot tables, and data (CSV) files; ability to learn and adapt to new technologies including specialized accounting software used by the library
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, board members, library patrons, public officials, banking/investment professionals, and vendors
