(Indianapolis, IN, April 12, 2022)  The Board of Directors of Indiana Members Credit Union (IMCU), central Indiana’s largest credit union, is pleased to announce the appointment of John Newett as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2023.  Newett will succeed Ron Collier who will retire at the end of December after 37 years with IMCU.

Newett, current Senior Vice President of Operations at Indiana Members Credit Union, will now serve as the President of the credit union while Collier continues his service as CEO, until his retirement on December 31, 2022.

Newett joined IMCU in 2011 as Director of Planning and Administration and was promoted to Senior Vice President of Operations in 2016.  Prior to joining IMCU, he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer at Harvester Financial Credit Union from 2000 to 2011 and as a Principal Examiner for the National Credit Union Administration from 1995 to 2000.  Newett has over 26 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Newett is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), and has served in leadership roles for many professional and trade

organizations.  John currently serves as the Board Secretary to the Central Indiana Franciscan Health Foundation, as a member of the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU) Legislative Committee, on the Audit and Finance Committee of the Indiana Credit Union League, as a Trustee of the Credit Union Consortium, and as a Board Member of the Hoosier Council of the Credit Union Executives Society. 

John is a proud alumnus of Scecina Memorial High School, and the Indiana University Kelley School of Business at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.  He has been active in many community organizations, and has served in numerous volunteer leadership roles during his career.  John and his wife Toni live in the Indianapolis area and have four children.
