FISHERS, Ind. (September 16, 2024) — Hamilton East Public Library (HEPL) looks forward to hosting a “Bike Rodeo” in partnership with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office to promote safety and wellness for children ages 7-10. This program will take place on Saturday, September 28 from 10am – 12pm at the Fishers Library, located outside near the Nickel Plate Trail.
Attendees are asked to bring their own bike and arrive ready to learn safe ways to travel on bike path trails. After learning some safety basics, riders will then have the opportunity to put those skills into action through an obstacle course challenge aimed to build riding skills. Free helmets and fittings will be provided (while supplies last) and a helmet must be worn to participate.
“We’re excited to offer another Bike Rodeo at the Fishers Library,” HEPL Youth Services Librarian Julie Stephens said. “The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Bike Team’s infectious enthusiasm envelopes the youth attending. The deputies’ encouragement creates a fun learning environment. We’re also grateful to the Friends of the Library for providing free helmets for participants.”
HEPL hosted a Bike Rodeo earlier this year and with great program feedback, the opportunity to partner with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office again, and a generous sponsorship from the Friends of the Library, HEPL was delighted to offer a second Bike Rodeo.
