On March 30, 2022, the ribbon was officially cut to open Teacher’s Credit Union at 635 E. Carmel Drive in Carmel, Indiana. A special part of the celebration was a generous $1,000 contribution to Carmel Education Foundation (CEF) in honor of the 2,400 Carmel Clay Schools educators who engage and empower Carmel Clay students in their learning.
Dee Herring, TCU Carmel Branch Manager, and Joshua Lloyd, TCU Area Manager presented Jennifer Penix, CEF Executive Director, with a check in recognition of their role as a CEF Community Partner.
Penix was most appreciative and says, “Partnerships with like-minded businesses, such as TCU, are essential to propelling our mission to empower teachers in fostering innovate lessons in their classrooms and learning opportunities for our students. We are especially grateful for how TCU’s programs benefit teachers whom we consider to be foundational in our learning and living communities.”
Carmel Education Foundation (CEF) will use these funds to support the Great Idea! Grant program which awards up to 60 grants annually to Carmel Clay School educators and students for classroom innovation, curriculum enhancement, wellness initiatives, and other unique opportunities in the classroom, building, or district level.
The Carmel Education Foundation Board of Directors adopted a Community Partner program in 2021 that is designed to provide local businesses opportunities to support public education in capacities that are best suited to their company mission or product. Along with TCU, CEF Community Partners include businesses that enhance fundraising, donor engagement, community events, operations, and innovation.
Penix shares that “The growth of this program is encouraging and the opportunities are really endless- we have a creative group of leaders that are open to new, fresh ideas from a variety of businesses that can help us take the Foundation to the next level to become an even more integral part of Carmel.”
